Airrial, 16 – FUNDED

Name: Airrial

Age:  16

School: Lincoln College Preparatory Academy

Future Plans: Teach English as a second language in other countries.

Do you know what you’d like to major in or have a career in? If so, what is it?

I’m willing to attend any college as long as they have an ESL major and Chinese major.

What is something you are most proud of?

I am most proud of the grades that I’ve gotten so far in my high school career. My goal is to graduate with all A’s and with a rank in the top 20.

Have you gone through any tough or challenging times?

When I was younger I was bullied a lot because of my ethnicity.

What does it mean to you to be selected as a Girl on the Rise?

I’m so honored to be selected as a Girl on the Rise. I was worried that the only way for me to choose a school would be online.

What inspired you to want to be involved with Girls on the Rise?

I didn’t know about Girls on the Rise until I was contacted about it. It will inspire me to get out into the college world and explore my options. I am so honored to have been chosen.

How will funding from the 1,000 Dreams Fund help you reach your goals? In other words: Why is the opportunity to visit your prospective colleges important to your journey?

Now I will be able to go out to colleges and see what my future will consist of. I want to be assured face to face that THIS is the college I’m looking for, and Girls on the Rise provides that.

What schools will you use the funding to visit?

I’ve been looking at colleges such as Georgetown, Penn State, etc.
