Meet Adedolapo A. (she/her), a Colgate-Palmolive Scholar who is working on her Biomedical Engineering degree at the University of North Texas.

What is your dream?

My goal is to be a pediatric cardiologist. I am interested in global pediatric health, specifically, because I have a passion to bridge the gap in healthcare disparities around the world. To achieve this goal, I plan on pursuing a master’s degree in public health alongside my medical degree to gain more knowledge on my passion and understand how to effectively implement my goals.

Please share how you feel about the win and what impact it will have on your career.

Scholarship opportunities like this truly make me understand that I am not alone. I am genuinely grateful to be a recipient of this scholarship because it is an amazing source of encouragement to me in my academic journey. I am motivated knowing that other people are not only interested in my dreams but also committed to see them come true.

What advice do you have for other women reaching for their dreams?

I would advise young women to believe that their dreams are attainable. There is no dream that is impossible to achieve if you remain consistent and committed.

Surrounding yourself with a community of people who believe in you also makes the journey a lot easier and less discouraging.

Lastly, I would advise other women to not limit themselves. The fear of stress, limitations, and opposition will not get you to your destination any quicker. Silence negative voices and do everything within your power to achieve your goals.
