Stuff We Love 2019: Find out what our 1DF women are crushing on this year!

Spring has sprung and love is in the air — and our popular Stuff We Love series is back for its 2019 season! We hosted a survey of our network, led by our Student Advisory Board, with input from our 1DF editorial team, to identify the influencers, role models, trends, and movements that are making a positive impact on you. And, you answered!

This year, women in the arts — like songstress Taylor Swift, actress Yara Shahidi, fine artist Sue Tsai, and Lithuanian orchestral conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla — and female athletes, including tennis stars Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka, gymnast Aly Raisman, and Chiquita Evans, the first woman in NBA e-sports, have all inspired us.

As for other influential leaders, female entrepreneurs topped the love list, too. Morgan Berman is the founder and CEO of MilkCrate, a tech company helping other mission-driven organizations achieve their impact goals with rewards and incentives for users. Direct-to-consumer beauty company Glossier founder and CEO Emily Weiss-Glossier is also making waves, as is Audrey Gelman who founded The Wing, a women’s co-working space and social club. And, proving that age is just a number, Samaira Mehta is the 10-year-old CEO of CoderBunnyz, a company that combines fun and coding to get kids interested in STEM.

Of course, we couldn’t leave out women in tech like Katie Bouman who helped make the world’s first black hole image or Dr. Jedidah Isler; she’s the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Yale — along with being an award-winning researcher and a TED speaker. We’ve also been crushing on Twitch super-starlet Pokimane and supermodel-turned-supermogul Karlie Kloss.
