After the Fund: An update from Natalie

Natalie Becerra Visits Washburn University and Kansas State University
Girls on the Rise helped me in deciding which college I will apply to and attend in the future. I never thought I would be able to actually go on a college visit before this funding. I am not only able to see the campuses, but I am now capable of getting first-hand advice from current students and graduate students!
My experience at Washburn University was wonderful. What I really admired about Washburn University was the class size. The class size is small and the teacher is able to have one-on-one interaction with the students. I also like how the law school is on the same campus.
K-State University was terrific. I really enjoyed hearing from the students about the campus. Students seemed to be very involved with their school, which I love because my high school–Shawnee Mission North–is known for the students being really involved and having a lot of school spirit! I also really adore how they offer a criminology class that I have now considered taking in the future.
Now I have options. Now I can look at more colleges instead of just limiting myself. I am very proud that I am able to take advantage of funding like this. I cannot honestly say enough how appreciative I am for having a scholarship like this!
