Meet Our 1,000 Dreams Fund 2021-2022 “Project: Girls On The Rise” Program Participants!

College is expensive — but, before enrollment even begins, the financial burden associated with even choosing the right school can be cost-prohibitive for many high school students.
That is where our Project: Girls On The Rise (PGOTR) program comes in. Since 2016, this academic year-long program for select high-school women across the country has been providing funds for critical college visits and college-bound costs like test prep and application fees so that young women with bright minds and bright futures can find their perfect school and thrive.
Our goal is to ensure that each “Girl On the Rise” has a clear path from high school all the way through enrollment in an institution of higher education. Each summer, we invite high school women to apply to the program and also partner with local nonprofits like Big Brothers Big Sisters to identify students who can benefit most from the program.
Participants are selected and announced in the fall with each student receiving a $1,000 microgrant toward those college-bound costs and year-long program support from 1DF, including workshops and college-aged mentors from our Student Advisory Board members.
“We’re so proud of our group of PGOTR alumni,” says Christie Garton, founder and CEO of 1,000 Dreams Fund. “It’s so rewarding to see these talented young women step into their potential and benefit from this program — and I’m thrilled about our Class of 2021-2022 PGOTR winners.”
With that, let’s meet our Project: Girls On the Rise Class of 2021-2022.
