IT’S WORLD KINDNESS DAY AND HERE’S WHAT THAT MEANS FOR MENTORHER!

Friday, November 13 is World Kindness Day 2020. It’s a global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world.

It’s a day we love here at 1,000 Dreams Fund and it’s a day that means so much to one of our MentorHER 2020 partners, Kendra Scott, too. This jewelry and accessories brand is united by fashion, family, and philanthropy. They give a portion of their annual proceeds to causes that directly support women’s and children’s causes that improve lives, advance knowledge, and unlock opportunity.

But, here’s what we’re even more excited about! Kendra Scott has partnered with 1,000 Dreams Fund and our MentorHER 2020 Initiative. With MentorHER, we are connecting women with well-paired mentors to help accelerate their growth and success in school and beyond. Each mentee receives a 60-minute, 1:1 virtual mentor session.

And, we’re culminating all of our Kendra Scott mentorships TODAY — on World Kindness Day!

From Amy Young, Senior Director of Retail Marketing at Kendra Scott:

“As a brand, we’re committed to empowering women and encouraging them to follow their dreams. We’re so grateful for this opportunity and look forward to continuing our partnership with 1,000 Dreams Fund.”

Here’s a quick recap of what we’ve been up to with Kendra Scott’s amazing team members across the country!

  • Twenty-four(!!!) 60-minute mentor sessions via Google Meet, with 75% of the sessions happening TODAY on World Kindness Day (November 13, 2020).
  • Our Kendra Scott mentors have come from the marketing, communications, and philanthropic sides of their business and hold regional management and national director titles.
  • Our mentees are a diverse group of women — 65% women of color — who are undergrad and masters students hailing from schools in Washington, D.C., New York, California, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Florida.

But, we are JUST getting started!! So, it’s not too late to get involved!

We have so many additional opportunities for mentorship from our other partners, including title Sponsor Colgate-Palmolive along with Allied Esports, Bonsai, Gentherm, HARMAN, and NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc.
