About ILA Paliwal

ILA Paliwal is a multiple award-winning vocalist, composer, songwriter, producer, and philanthropist. Over the years, she has collaborated with many world-class musicians and has performed at some of the world’s most renowned venues, including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, and Dubai Financial Center, to name a few.

She launched her album NAVARATNA (executive produced by legendary AR Rahman) through her label, Padamsheel Production, in 2015 at Carnegie Hall — to a sold-out audience. NAVARATNA is based on Indian Classical Ragas and it celebrates India’s secular and festive spirit with songs from India’s various regions and religions, e.g. “Pongal,” “Holi,” “Baisakhi,” “Eid,” “Janamastami,” “Ganesh Chaturthi,” “Durga Puja,” “Diwali,” and “Christmas.” The album was a bestseller for eight consecutive weeks on Amazon Asia, and Lufthansa Airlines chose NAVARATNA for its inflight entertainment. Her “Holi” song won the Round Glass award in New York for best World Music. Her award-winning “Holi” video celebrates the ancient Indian phrase Vasudev Kutumbakam, meaning “world is one family.” The legendary music producer Quincy Jones included “Holi” in his list of best 15 songs from around the world for the premier world music magazine, Songline.

ILA released her latest album ILA The Earth Symphony to critical acclaim on August 2, 2020. The album is a musical tribute to Mother Nature and it is rooted in ancient Indian traditions and scriptures. Sung in Sanskrit and Hindi, the album has been layered with Indian and Western musical orchestrations. More than 150 finest musicians from around the world and renowned International orchestras like the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Soweto Gospel Choir of South Africa, as well as several Indian classical musicians have collaborated on this album. As COVID-19 changed the album launch plans, ILA produced a virtual concert which was premiered live on Facebook and YouTube on September 27, 2020.

ILA is a member of the Board of Directors of Pratham USA, focused on innovative interventions to address gaps in the education system through philanthropic and community based programs.

Having lived in six countries on four continents and having traveled to more than 30 countries, she has a huge appreciation for different cultures and their people. She promotes the message of “unity in diversity” through her music. Through her family’s foundation, she actively supports many causes to make this world a better place.

Through the ILA and Dinesh Paliwal Foundation, ILA and her husband, Dinesh Paliwal, retired chairman and CEO of HARMAN, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, and board member of Bristol Myers Squibb, Nestlé, and Raytheon Technologies, teamed up with 1DF in 2019 to launch the Paliwal Club of 100 STEAM Scholars Fund to fuel women in the science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics fields over the next 10 years.

In 2019, he played his largest show to date at Terminal 5 (New York City) to more than 2,000 people and released his debut self-titled 12-track album, earning the cover spot on Spotify’s official “No Borders” playlist. In fall 2020, he was featured alongside frequent collaborator Daramola in a Spotify-produced documentary about rising artists. In January 2021, he cemented his abilities as a versatile dance music producer with a release on the iconic UK Tech House label Toolroom. In April of the same year, he released a multi-genre EP in collaboration with New York Times investigative journalist Ian Urbina, a musical accompaniment to his book “The Outlaw Ocean,” to raise awareness of unreported crimes overseas. With more than 20 million global streams under his belt, ShiShi is poised to take the next step in his career as a world-touring artist.
