We recently took Las Vegas by storm with our FIRST 2020 BroadcastHER Academy Fellow visit to the HyperX Esports Arena Las Vegas, which was part of the Fellowship Prize. Our BroadcastHER Academy Fellowship Program, powered by Allied Esports and HyperX, was launched to help women reach their career goals in esports and gaming.
Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic initially delayed our travel plans for the group this year, but we were so grateful to finally have the chance to introduce fellows @SneakySlothAv and @Krystalogy to the Allied Esports team who gave each of them an inside look at a premier esports business at HyperX.
1,000 Dreams Fund founder and CEO Christie Garton joined the BroadcastHER Fellows for the day, where playing it safe was our first priority as we made sure to follow all CDC guidelines during the trip.
After a tour of the arena, our gals sat in on a virtual focus group with the HyperX product engineering team lead before meeting with Allied Esports’ CEO Jud Hannigan.
Then, it was time for shadowing. Each of our BroadcastHER Fellows were paired with an Allied Esports team member to get a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at what they do on a daily basis. The matches were made based on career interests and goals.
After dinner, the real fun — and GAMING — began with the Friday Frags Fortnite tournament at the HyperX Esports Arena — plus a special on-stage moment for our BroadcastHER Fellows where each accepted their $1,000 check and were interviewed by the arena team.
