1,000 Dreams Fund’s MentorHER Initiative Returns For Its Fourth Year!

The whole month of January was designated as National Mentoring Month, and we were busy making wonderful mentor connections for students. But the need for mentors continues year-round, which is why at 1,000 Dreams Fund, we celebrate the power of mentorship all year long.

In that spirit, we’re thrilled to officially kick off the fourth year of our MentorHER Initiative.

MentorHER pairs women in college, graduate school, and recent graduates with professionals and executives, based on their career goals and aspirations.

This year, we are featuring three core MentorHER opportunities with our partners:

  • The MentorHER Workshops, which features speakers who present to a curated student audiences on a wide range topics — from women leading in the workplace, to best practices for the job search and interview process, to how to get hired, and more.
  • Our newest MentorHER activation — MentorHER Day — which brings together partners and students for one impactful day. During this event, our partners offer insight and learnings to our students, who get to shadow professionals at their company headquarters.

It’s going to be a great year!

And we couldn’t be more excited to welcome back Colgate-Palmolive as our title sponsor for the fourth year. Last year, we activated 70 Colgate mentors through our MentorHER program!

Tech giant HARMAN is also partnering with MentorHER for another year. We love bringing them this incredible employee engagement opportunity, which will welcome more than 70 HARMAN participants this spring.

Mentoring is so vital — especially for young women. It shows students what’s possible for their lives.

Unfortunately, as we know, many students lack access to networks and professional contacts that can provide meaningful mentorship.

According to 1DF’s “State of the American Girl“™ research, 70% of American women, ages 18-25, say they’ve never had a mentor. MentorHER was created to make it easier for busy professionals to volunteer while increasing more opportunities for underserved students to find a mentor who can accelerate growth in school and beyond.

From large and small companies to nonprofits, 1,000 Dreams Fund will continue to announce MentorHER partners throughout 2023 — so stay tuned!

Individual professionals who are interested in participating as a MentorHER volunteer are encouraged to apply, as well.
