Our 2024 BroadcastHER Academy Esports & Gaming Fellows recently returned from Games Week Georgia and DreamHack (October 2-6) in Atlanta — and it was nothing short of a game-changing time for our five esports fellows, including: miamouse14, sway_bae, moonkill3r17, Kaiserine, and oofJenni.

As part of our BroadcastHER Academy program, our fellows got a behind-the-scenes, experiential learning experience with the Skillshot Media, Ghost Gaming, and DreamHack teams.

Here are some highlights from this week-long event:

Day 1: Esports Summit

We hit the ground running on the first day with a special tour of the Skillshot Media Atrium while shadowing the Skillshot team onsite!

Then, it was off to a special panel presentation that included 1DF founder and CEO Christie Garton: Building Esports Programs: Funding, Grants, and Partnerships Workshop.

We also took the opportunity on Day 1 to award each of the five BroadcastHER Academy Fellows their big checks — and then we celebrated their wins even more at an Entertainment Industry Mixer.

Day 2: LIONESS Girl Gaming Expo & Creator Summit

The second day kicked off with another valuable shadowing opportunity with the Skillshot team. Our fellows also had the incredible opportunity to participate in a mentorship session with the Skillshot Media CEO Todd Harris.

Our winners also got another surprise gift: HyperX Alpha Wireless Headphones!

Then, it was time for the Ghost Girls Kickoff Event before the official start of DreamHack Atlanta.

Day 3, 4, & 5: DreamHack Atlanta

DreamHack is the place where gamers from all multiverses and backgrounds connect for a weekend of experiences; esports, cosplay, and more. Every day is jam-packed with networking opportunities as well as things to do and see.

When they weren’t experiencing the mega conference, our fellows helped out at the 1DF booth — and they also got the chance to shadow the DreamHack team during the live event while taking part in a 1DF meetup.

As a big grand finale to the weekend, the fellows were spotlighted on the DreamHack Main Stage with their big checks — in front of all of DreamHack!
