‘1000 Dreams Fund’ Update: Speaking Spanish with Emma

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 preset

This fall after a successful crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo we were able to fund 13 dreams of young women nationwide. Some girls used the funding to help pay for school books, another girl purchased a camera, and others used it to study abroad.

For the next few months we will be catching up with the #1000Dream recipients and sharing their stories. This week we are following up with Emma.

How did you use the 1000 Dreams Grant?

I used my grant to buy textbooks I’ll need for my Spanish courses at the University of Arkansas next year.

How is this helping you get closer to your dream?

My dream is to leave the world a better place and that means living in a world where cultures can mesh and learn from one another.  By minoring in Spanish and speaking it on a daily basis, I hope to be the link between cultures.

What advice do you have for other young women looking to go for their dreams?

Following a dream takes time so don’t get discouraged if you don’t see immediate results.

Any setbacks? How did you get around them?

I haven’t had any setbacks as of now. I haven’t started at the university yet but when I do I anticipate running into problems and I will face them head on with confidence.

What’s next for you? What is your next goal?

I still have my goal of leaving the world a better place but since that is a goal that will span over years, my next immediate goal is to save money and gain experience in the business world to prepare myself for college internships and future jobs.
