‘1000 Dreams Fund’ Update: Kathryn Starts her Teaching Internship

This fall after a successful crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo we were able to fund 13 dreams of young women nationwide. Some girls used the funding to help pay for school books, another girl purchased a camera, and others used it to study abroad.
For the next few months we will be catching up with the #1000Dream recipients and sharing their stories. This week we are following up with Kathryn an aspiring teacher.
How did you use the 1000 Dreams Fund?
The 1000 dreams fund made it possible for me to afford textbooks for this last semester.
How is this helping you get closer to your dream?
The fund is really critical because as I am getting further into my major and textbooks are more expensive. But I have to have the books.
What advice do you have for other young women looking to go for their dreams?
Work hard, if you keep working hard there is very little you can’t achieve. Network a lot as well, because there are always people out their who want to help you achieve your dreams.
Any setbacks? How did you get around them?
No major setbacks this semester, I just have to keep working hard and I keep making progress and moving forward.
What’s next for you? What is your next goal?
This summer I am starting my first internship working as a teacher for a child with Autism! This is a critical step in obtaining my degree, so I can spend the rest of my life helping children with disabilities.
