Daniella J., an enrolled member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, embodies the spirit of perseverance and ambition as she actively transforms her dreams into reality.

Having recently completed her final semester at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in December 2024, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in Business, she reflected on the profound impact of receiving a travel grant to 1,000 Dreams Fund’s Student Leadership Summit.

For Daniella, this scholarship meant so much more than financial aid; it was a symbol of encouragement and validation. The support she received also allowed her to dedicate herself fully to her studies, free from the financial burdens that often weigh heavily on students. It is what our Dare to Dream Fundraiser is all about — funding those who dare to dream big!

With this investment in her education, she not only achieved the educational and personal milestone of graduating with her B.A. degree — but also set an empowering precedent for future generations in her community.

On her college graduation day, Daniella’s pride in her heritage shone brightly when she donned both the cap-and-gown regalia and her traditional Native attire, symbolizing the strong connection to her roots. She sees her accomplishment as a collective success — a shared victory among all those who believed in her potential.

“[1,000 Dreams Fund’s] support has helped create a ripple effect that will continue to strengthen and uplift the Native American community, and I hope to inspire others just as you have inspired me,” said Daniella. She is passionate about continuing to pay it forward by volunteering as a mentor for future scholarship recipients, joining student panels, or even contributing to scholarship selection committees.

“I will forever be grateful for the role [1,000 Dreams Fund] played in my educational journey!” she said.
