1,000 Dreams Fund Announces Our 2021 BroadcastHER Academy Esports and Gaming Fellows

Last year, we announced the expansion of a life-changing opportunity for women in gaming — 1DF’s BroadcastHER Academy (powered by Allied Esports and HyperX Gaming). This esports and gaming fellowship program for women has already changed the game — literally! — for our 10 fellows who received the grant in 2020.

And, today, we are JUST as excited to announce our 10 new Fellows in the 2021 BroadcastHER Academy!

@digitalli – “I’d love to usher in an era of inclusiveness in the communities I’m active in, like the FGC (fighting game community) which is very male-dominated.”

@keekeexbabyy – “My dream is to become a competitive fighting game player, commentator, and a more established full-time content creator, who is a positive force for everyone in the gaming world.”

@maidendere – “My dream is to become a UX designer in the gaming industry for video games or gaming-related platforms and applications.”

@DeviantDreamers – “I want to create 3-D animations for a large gaming company and I dream about pursuing meaningful and fulfilling opportunities in online broadcasting via outlets like Twitch.”

@KaylaMarieTea – “My ultimate dream is to positively impact lives through the entertainment I create as well as pursue a future in the storytelling aspect of the video game industry.”

@pierogee – “I want to be an event manager in the esports industry — and potentially a streamer — and this grant will push me in the right direction.”

@TopazTvee – “I would love to compete in Apex and broadcast Apex and NBA 2K games, and I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s like behind the scenes in esports.”

@kallistakaines – “I want to be a writer for a gaming company, and and I’m grateful for this rare opportunity to see behind the scenes and get hands-on training, so I’m excited about it!”

@TheHotdish – “I’d love to become a larger community manager who brings gamers and broadcasters together because I want women to feel like the gaming community is a safe space.”

@laplios – “I want to be both a player and also someone who helps make promotional videos and material.”

Here’s a reminder of what these winners will be receiving as part of the fellowship program!

  • $1,000 micro-grant to further their esports education
  • One 60-minute mentor session with an executive from one of our partners by video conference. Matches will be made based on skills and career interests of both the mentor and mentee.
  • All-expenses-paid trip for winners to visit the HyperX Esports Arena Las Vegas and shadow the Allied Esports team
  • Access to additional “pop up” opportunities with partners — from live events to conferences, tournaments, project-based contract roles, internships, apprenticeships, or even full-time employment

From everyone at 1,000 Dreams Fund, thanks to all who participated in our BroadcastHER Academy Challenge! We continue to be so encouraged by your talent and dedication to reaching your dreams in the industry.

And, as always, a huge shout-out to our partners Allied Esports and HyperX for helping us make more esports and gaming dreams come true for women!
